Spinning for a project

It’s not very often that I spin specifically for a project. I like to be inspired by the fibre and let it become what it wants to be. At this point I have so much fibre in my stash that I can pretty much find what ever I want to make a particular knitting pattern come alive.

When I was at knit city in Vancouver this past fall I was much taken with a beautiful publication called gentle armour by Sylvia McFadden. With the winter Olympics coming up there’s an on line challenge that I’m going to try and meet I’m going to try and spin all the yarn and knit this is shawl by the end of the winter Olympics this year.

I’ve already started the sampling and the spinning.

My first attempt is the larger sample, yikes! I spun at almost half the grist to get the smaller sample which appears to be on gauge.

Christmas is coming

Sunday was the Christ the King Elementary School Christmas sale. I think my table looked pretty good.

Atlin Fest

I was in Atlin selling wall this past weekend. It was cold, wet, and rainy, but warm in my wall tent with my woodstove.

And then the sun would come out along with all the visitors.
